Poker jargon
Like any other game, poker have its own specific terms, which a person who want to play poker has to know them in order to be familiarized with the game. Here are some terms so that you know what this game is about, supposing that you already know the basic rules.
Board Cards (Community cards): The cards displayed on the table by the dealer and shared by all players in forming of the hands that compete to the pot.
Pot: The sum of all Bet and Raises . Is the prize for the winner.
Blinds: Bets that must be made mandatory before the start of the hand. The first person on the left of the dealer must submit the small blind and the person immediately after the big blind. Big blind is almost always double than the small blind.
Draw: Drawing means hope to improve card hand that is going to be exposed on the table. You are on a draw when you want that a new card that appears on the table to complete your hand. Ex. If you have a 10 and a 9 and the flop is QJ 2, then wait for a K or an 8 for a straight. This is called “drawing”

Flop: The first three cards of the dealer at the table.
Turn: The fourth card on the table exposed by the dealer.
River: The fifth and final card on the table exposed by the dealer.
Limit Poker: Poker playing with Bets limited to fixed amounts. Ex. In a game of $ 2-4 s all bets and raises are $ 2 are in the first 2 rounds (pre flop and flop) and all bets and raises are $ 4 are the last two rounds (turn and river).
No-Limit Poker: Poker where the bets and raises are not a fixed limit. They are limited to the amount of each player chips (total money) that they have in that game.
Longhand: A poker game with 7 or more players.
Shorthand: A poker game with six or fewer players.
Out sites: Cards that can improve the current hand. Ex. If the flop is QJ 2 and you have in hand 10 and 9 then again you have to wait for a K or 8 to be straight. All K and all 8 are out sites for you. There is a total of 8 out sites (4 K and 4 8).
Pot Odds: The odds that you have when you are “drawing”. Ex. If you have a diamond 2 and on the table are exposed two diamonds and one clubs, assuming you have no pair and that at least one of your opponents is one, you still need to fulfill a diamond color and win the pot. In that situation 4 diamonds are l being displayed they are still 9 which may arise. With approximation the chances of another diamond to appear on turn are 18% and the chances of a diamond turning up to the final are 37%.
Implied odds: Similar with pot odds but they can take into account the estimates of bets made in the future. Ex. when you are call for a bet you calculate pot odds estimating the final pot instead of using the current pot amount.
